We believe that one of the most significant events was in 1805, when a horrible fire destroyed two hundred buildings except a stone wear house. The event had a big impact on the community of detroit because after the fire they had to rebuild all there lost buildings. Make the items in there that burnt down.

The war of 1812 the british captured Detroit and mackinaw island. This had a large impact on detroit's economy because durring that time the erie canal opened and the stem boat was made. So there was a dramatic growth because of the business that was coming from Britain.

In 1837 Michigan was claimed as the twenty six state in the USA. Then detroit was used for the civil war as an under ground rai way for the slaves to use to be free from slavery. The railway was also used for fugitives to move from some northern states of canada where they would be free.
